“A Pain That I’m Used To” is a song by English electronic band Depeche Mode from their eleventh studio album Playing the Angel (2005). It’s the opening track on the record. It was released as the album’s second single on December 12, 2005.

It’s an alternative dance track with industrial rock influences, while fitting lyrically with the “pain and suffering in various tempos” concept of the album.

There's a hole in your soul like an animal With no conscience repentance unknown

Close your eyes, pay the price for your paradise

Devils feed on the seeds that are sown

Our Lady of Sorrows is another name for the Virgin Mary when describing the sorrows of her life. The Seven Sorrows of Mary are seven events in Mary’s life that caused her great pain (such as the death of her son, Jesus). Our Lady of Sorrows is usually depicted in pain with seven swords piercing her heart.

In “Our Lady of Sorrows” singer, Gerard Way, is calling for someone to trust

and believe in him so that they may be saved.
